The opinion article by the presidents of the interprofessional farm and livestock farming organisations

25/01/2022

We present you the opinion article published by the presidents of the interprofessional livestock-meat organisations last Tuesday in El País. The authors of the article are Antonio Prieto, Antonio Sánchez, José Luis Tainta, Raúl Muñiz, Manuel García and Eliseu Isla.

The article gives the sector’s perspective on the current crossroads, how the Spanish meat industry defends the different production models of the sector and calls for a calm, responsible and committed political debate to face the future challenges of its activity.

We have become the fourth largest meat exporter in the world and meat is not exported to more than 130 countries “if the highest quality standards are not met, both in the product and in the process. The sector creates jobs, creates companies that contribute fiscally, dynamises territories, boosts the Spain brand and adds value to communities”. “We are aware of the challenges and we face them responsibly. “Let’s all act responsibly and with common sense so that we can continue to build a country”.
